Hi-Tech Solutions is a
leader in vision based recognition systems in Homeland Security
products. In the past 2 years the Company has developed and
installed dozens of systems in a wide range of applications. This
page presents the current line of products.
Vision is one of the leading technologies in Homeland Security. The
basic level is archiving the images for post analysis. Hi-Tech
Solutions is implementing "Smart Camera"
implementations: these intelligent systems implement automatic
analysis of the image, extracting the Identification information of
the image in real-time, and propagating the information to control
systems.
The following products are a sample of our
Homeland Security products and installations.

ACTA Rail OCR installed in Compton |
ACTA Rail OCR
Aiming to improve security at the
Los Angeles-Long Beach port complex, a system was designed to track
the movement of cargo containers. These ports handle more than 43%
of the maritime containers coming into the United States, and most
of them pass through the Alameda Corridor, a cargo expressway
linking the ports to the transcontinental rail network near downtown
Los Angeles. Tracking and tracing the containers is important to
national security because the containers could be used by terrorists
to carry dangerous weapons and chemicals.
HTS designed a state-of-the-art
Rail container OCR system for the Alameda Corridor Transportation
Authority (ACTA). The system was supplied in 2005 and commissioned
in 2006. It identifies double stacked containers on rail cars, on
three parallel tracks, as the container trains travel through the
corridor at speeds up to 40mph.

First Line of Defense systems
HTS USA has been awarded in 2005 a
contract by Pacific NorthWest National Labratory (PNNL) for
container OCR systems.
The systems work in US
seaports, and complement and integrate with container radiation
portal systems. These portals scan the containers in order to alert
on dangerous material, and the container identification is required
to correlate the scanned containers with their identification.
The system is in the process of
installation in many US terminals.

Port of Algeciras, Spain
|
Second Line of Defense systems
("Megaport")
The Megaports Initiative is part
of DOE's Office of the Second Line of Defense. Its aim is to
strengthen the capacity to detect and deter illicit trafficking of
nuclear and other radioactive materials across international
borders.
HTS has worked with a DOE
strategic contractor and installed a Container Recognition system
and integrated it with a Radiation Portal system in the Port of
Algeciras, Spain. The system is managed by US customs and alerts on
containers with suspected dangerous goods.
This system is now being planned
for installations in other Megaport sites.

S3 system tracks the visitors around the facility
|
Smart Surveillance Systems
IBM USA has developed the
Smart Surveillance Systems (S3), which allows to track visitors
throughout the facility.
The system is a platform of
several security subsystems, including Hi-Tech Solution's License
plate Recognition (LPR). Additionally, the system integrated with
facial recognition, behavior analysis software, badge reading,
person tracking, and more. The visitor is tracked from the gate,
within the parking lot and yard, and inside the building. Thus,
achieving a large scale integrated situation awareness system.
This system can be installed in
sensitive facilities, such as embassies and government buildings.

Airport Traffic Screening
Systems HTS has supplied
a security system based on LPR, for the screening of all vehicles
entering the Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The system
identifies each vehicle entering the airport over 10 separate
traffic lanes, and checks out the license plate number with various
security databases. The results are provided in real time and
transferred to security personnel who monitor the traffic lanes.
